Woman Injured in Bicycle-Car Accident

MAYETTA: On Sept. 6  at 6:36 p.m. a woman was injured on her bicycle after being hit by a car that was reported to have left the scene of an accident on 158 Rd between G and H Roads, according to the Potawatomi Tribal Police.

Carol Eakin, who was wearing a bike helmet and orange safety vest at the time of the accident, was taken to Stormont Vail Hospital by the Potawatomi Fire Department for injuries but has since been released.

A witness to the accident called Jackson County 911 to report the accident and the driver of the vehicle was eventually located by the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Department.   Alcohol may have been a factor in the accident but the investigation is still ongoing at this time.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department and Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Department are assisting the Potawatomi Tribal Police in the investigation.
