The Prairie Band Potawatomi Legion Post 410 is accepting applications for the 2019-20 We-Ta-Se Princess.
Applications are available online (see link below) or at the We-Ta-Se Office located at 15434 K Road, Mayetta, Kansas. The deadline for entry is Monday, September 23, 2019, at 3 p.m.
Contestants must meet and follow the rules and regulations of the contest:
- Be an enrolled member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation or a direct descendant of a PBPN member.
- Be between the ages of 11 and 21 years of age at the time of the contest.
- Be single with no children.
- Pledge to be alcohol and drug-free and remain so during reign.
- Demonstrate knowledge of tribal culture and history.
- Know the history of your style of dance.
- Be willing to travel and represent We-Ta-Se.
The princess will be selected by the We-Ta-Se veterans at their regularly scheduled monthly meeting and introduced to the community at the 25th Annual We-Ta-Se Veteran’s Powwow on Saturday, September 28, 2019.
