Walk a Mile In Their Mocs – October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

To commemorate Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Tribal Victim Services releases balloons to honor those who have survived domestic violence and in memory of those wo did not survive. These balloons are specially made for these types of events and are biodegradable.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Tribal Victim Services (TVS) held and event at Prairie People’s Park on the Evening of October 1st commemorating the event.

Everyone was invited to “Walk a Mile in their Mocs” and participants walked a mile to help raise awareness. After the walk, at dusk, the group released biodegradable balloons to symbolically honor those who have survived domestic violence situations and to remember those who did not survive.

TVS has more events planned to help raise awareness this month. Everyone is welcome to join in these events to foster a sense of community and cooperation.
