Tribal Council and Gaming Commission Election Underway

MAYETTA:  Election notices were mailed to tribal members on April 12 for the Tribal Council/Gaming Commission Election and the timeframe for  filing to declare candidacy began today.  Individuals who want to run  have until April 30 to file with the Member Services Department that is located on the upper level of the Government Center.  Deadline to withdraw from candidacy is May 11.

Three Tribal Council positions are expiring and one Gaming Commission position are available.  Positions include Tribal Council chairperson, secretary, and council person #1 and Gaming Commission seat #3. The election will be conducted by mail with ballots tabulated in a meeting for PBPN members only on Saturday, July 24.   A three-day protest period will follow if the election results are challenged and a run-off election will be held for those not winning by majority vote four weeks after the election.

Members who are 18 years and older have until May 25 to register.  Ballots will be mailed on June 10. For more information call the Elections Office in Member Services at 785.966.3911.
