Three Sought for PBPN Enrollment Review Committee

The Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation Tribal Council is seeking three enrolled tribal members to fill one (1) Enrollment Review Committee member position and 2 (two) Enrollment Review Committee Member Alternate positions.

Pursuant to the Tribal Enrollment Ordinance of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation:

Section 3. The Tribal Enrollment Review Committee

The Tribal Council shall appoint a Tribal Enrollment Review Committee (the “Committee”) comprised of 5 tribal members who are not members of the Tribal Council. The Committee shall have the responsibility of reviewing new applications and enrollment records to ensure they are accurate and consistent with the provisions of this ordinance. The Committee shall be subject to the laws of Tribal Constitution, Tribal Enrollment Ordinances and the Committee By-Laws as of the effective date of their adoption.

Pursuant to the By-Laws for the Tribal Enrollment Committee of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation:

Section 1. The Tribal Enrollment Committee: (Committee)

E. All regular members of the Committee shall be: at least twenty-five (25) years of age; a currently enrolled member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation; and not a member of Tribal Council.
F. Each regular member shall be appointed by the Tribal Council for a two (2) year term.
G. Tribal Council may appoint regular members to serve consecutive terms.

Section 2. Alternate Members:
A. Tribal Council shall appoint two alternate members for a term of two (2) years. Alternates may be requested to attend a Committee meeting if the Committee has an insufficient number of members present to achieve a quorum. If a quorum is reached during the meeting the alternate may not participate as a voting member for the remainder of the meeting. Alternates may attend all Committee meetings as non-voting observers and are allowed to speak but not vote unless counted as part of the quorum.

B. Alternates shall not serve as full-time replacements for regular members unless requested to do so by a Tribal Council Resolution and only pursuant to a removal or resignation.

C. Tribal Council may appoint an alternate to serve consecutive terms.
