NOTICE OF COMPLETION OF DRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT
Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation Early Childhood Education Center

To All Interested Agencies, Groups and Persons:
Notice is hereby given pursuant to NEPA regulations issued by the Council on Environmental Quality (40 CFR Parts 1500-1508), and the Department of Health and Human Services’ Revised General Administrative Manual, Part 30 – Environmental Protection, the Draft Tribal Environmental Assessment for the proposed Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation Early Childhood Education Center Expansion Project has been completed.
This Environmental Assessment has been prepared to assess the environmental impacts of a proposed construction expansion and renovation to the PBPN Early Childhood Education Center. This phased expansion, partly funded by the Department of Health and Environmental Services through the Childcare and Development Fund, includes electrical service upgrades, a new fire suppression system, emergency power system, emergency shelter, and additional classroom space and employee facilities.
The proposed project will be located at 15380 K Road, legally described as a tract in the Southwest ¼ of Section 27, Township 8 South, Range 14 East in Jackson County, Kansas. (Lat. 39.325037, Long. -95.848113)
Finding of No Significant Impact
The Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation Planning and Environmental has determined the proposed project will have no significant impact on the human environment. Therefore, an Environmental Impact Statement under the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA) is not required.
Additional project information is contained in the Draft Environmental Assessment. A full copy of the document will be available for a period of 15 days and may be examined from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the following locations:

Any individual, group, or agency wishing to comment on the project may submit written comments to the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation Planning and Environmental Protection Department. All comments received after January 19, 2023 will not be considered by the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.
