August 12, 2014 –
MAYETTA: Elder travelers unloaded from the bus yesterday in front of the Bingo Hall after attending the 2014 Pottawatomi Gathering that was hosted by the Gun Lake “Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish” Band in Allegan County, Michigan.
In addition to the elders and other Prairie Band families, others made the trip including Tribal Council and We-Ta-Se American Legion Post 410 members and the Language Department.
The first Gathering was held in 1994 and is usually held the first week of August. Next year’s Gathering will be hosted by the Forest County Potawatomi.
