Prairie Band Casino & Resort Holds Successful Coat Drive

November 30, 2012 –

Mayetta, KS; November 27, 2012-  Prairie Band Casino & Resort held the largest donation drive in the property’s 15 year-history last weekend. The casino invited guests to bring in new or gently used coats, hats, gloves, scarves and blankets in exchange for Prairie Cash. More than $21,000 in Prairie Cash was paid by the casino.

The event turned out to far exceed expectations.  Each guest could receive Prairie Cash for the donation of up to 15 items, but many donated above and beyond. Casino representatives were gratefully surprised by participation in the event. “On behalf of Prairie Band Casino & Resort we would like to thank everyone who donated for their thoughtfulness and for practicing generosity during this holiday season. These donations will serve to help many people that are in need of warmth in their lives,” said Assistant General Manager, Stephen E. Ortiz.

The donated items were sent to the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation’s Early Childhood Development program, Senior Center, Boys & Girls Club and Social Services Deparment. Any remaining items will be sent to aid the Oglala Lakota Nation in South Dakota.
