Potawatomi Tribal Police Letter to the Nation

6.2.20

Members and Community of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation,

It has been difficult to watch communities across this nation being torn apart by a senseless act of those sworn to protect and serve our communities. There is no excuse, or any justifications, for the actions that break down trust between communities and Law enforcement. As your law enforcement officer, I stand by my oath to protect and serve this great community with transparency and accountability, exceeding the strong expectations found within the core values of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation. As a department, and a resource to this community, we are dedicated to protecting this Nation without hesitation and free of any influence other than honoring the law.

We understand that respect and open communication fosters trust, and that trust builds effective partnerships in the community. We will never take your trust and partnership for granted. If at any point you have questions or would like to speak further on how we can always work together to improve our emergency responses to better advocate for safety and accountability, please know that you can always contact me directly at 785-966-6660.

Your Chief of Police, Terry Clark
