PBPN Busy Next Two Saturdays With General Council Meeting and Election

MAYETTA: Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation (PBPN) tribal members will meet this coming Saturday, July 19 for the Annual General Council meeting and next Saturday, July 26 for the Tribal Council/Ethics Commission election.  Both functions are scheduled for 9 a.m. at the Bingo Hall and are open to tribal members only.

 

Registration for the Annual General Council meeting will begin at 8 a.m. with the meeting beginning at 9 a.m.  Following that meeting, Tribal Council will hold their monthly Saturday meeting at either the Bingo Hall or Government Center.

 

On Saturday, July 26 the Tribal Council /Ethics Commission Election is scheduled.  Mail in ballots must be received no later than 9 a.m. that day at the Mayetta, Kansas Post Office where they will then be hand-carried to the Bingo Hall under PBPN Tribal Police escort and tabulated in an open meeting for the tribal membership.

 

Nineteen candidates are running for political office.  Fifteen people are vying for four seats on the Tribal Council and four others have filed for the newly formed Ethics Commission.  Profiles of candidates can be found under the press releases category of this website and were also published along with candidate photos in the Summer 2008 edition of the Potawatomi News that was mailed to member households June 25.
