PBPN and Actor Wes Studi Participate in Native American Diplomacy Symposium

MAYETTA: Tribal Chairperson Steve Ortiz, along with theWe-Ta-Se Color Guard and some tribal elders, participated in the Native American Diplomacy Symposium held at the Dole Institute in Lawrence, Kan. on September 12.

The PBPN opened the symposium with the posting of colors and a prayer and attended the programs throughout the day.  Wes Studi, a well-known actor, also participated in one of the programs and mingled with the crowd.  Studi will star in an upcoming film called “The Only Good Indian” that is being produced by a Lawrence film company.

The event was sponsored by the Kansas Lewis & Clark Bicentennial Commission and underwritten by a National Parks Service Challenge Cost Share Grant on behalf of the Midwest Trail States.
