The KSCPA Conference on Kansas Taxes is being held today at the Prairie Band Casino. Conference attendees include certified public accountants (CPAs) and other State officials and employees who are discussing tax methods and issues.
Dominic Ortiz, CPA, CGMA, CFO, Prairie Band Entertainment Corporation, gave opening remarks at the conference and also moderated a panel session. Ortiz is an at-large member of the American Institute of CPAs Governing Council and is also active in the Kansas Society of CPAs.
Interns working at the casino this summer were also at the conference today and are photographed with Ortiz (second from left) and Tribal Council Treasurer Hattie Mitchell, CPA, (far right). On the far left is Curt Pahmahmie, Kira Vega (third) and Forrest Cox.
The group chats informally with Kansas Representative Richard Carlson (in light jacket) who also spoke at today’s conference. Carlson represents District 61 and chairs the Kansas House Tax Committee.
All three interns are Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation members and are cross-training in various departments at the casino to learn about the gaming industry.
