05/23/2022

Recently, the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) amended the emergency use authorization (EUA) for the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine, authorizing the use of a single booster dose for administration to individuals 5 through 11 years of age at least five months after completion of a primary series with the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine. The Advisory Council for Immunization Programs (ACIP) met on Thursday, May 19, 2022, and recommends a single Pfizer-BioNTech (10ug) COVID-19 vaccine booster dose for persons aged 5-11 years at least 5 months after the primary series.

Furthermore, the CDC recommends that those 12 and older who are immunocompromised and those 50 and older should receive a second booster dose at least 4 months after their first.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director, Rochelle Walensky, MD, MPH, said, “With cases increasing, it is important that all people have the protection they need.”

The PBP Health Center is prepared with the appropriate vaccine for 5–11-year-olds to receive their boosters. Please call the clinic to schedule appointments for booster shots at 785-966-8201 or 8202.
