MAYETTA:  Notah Begay will return next week to Firekeeper Golf Course, a course he helped design, to give a  junior/ youth golf clinic on Monday and plans to play in the Golfweek National Pro Tour May 22-25.  Over 160 golfers are expected to play in the event that begins on Tuesday with each vying for a $150,000 purse.

The youth clinic is scheduled to be held from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. and is being co-sponsored by the 1st Tee of Shawnee County and the Notah Begay NB3 Foundation. One of Begay’s goals as a four-time PGA golf tour winner and Native American is to help youth stay fit and to learn the game of golf.  Begay’s first junior golf clinic at Firekeeper was in 2010 where he gave an overview of the game and gave some individual training to the children.

According to, the Golfweek National Pro Tour is designed to help young adult players or those working themselves back into the PGA to play competitively and to learn about professional golf touring.  Events are held at various courses throughout the country (and world) and competitions are conducted in a multi-level developmental system.
