Native Nations Law Symposium Held on Iowa Reservation

The 2011 Native Nations Law Symposium was held today on the Iowa Reservation.  Walter Echo-Hawk, left, was the featured speaker and is seen with Carrie O’Toole, Tribal Council member.  Echo-Hawk is a Pawnee and has written a book called In the Courts of the Conquerer:  The 10 Worst Indian Law Cases Ever Decided.

Burton Warrington, President and CEO of Prairie Band LLC, spoke about Land Into Trust and his work as a former Policy Advisor to Assistant Secretary Larry Echo-Hawk in the Department of the Interior.

Tribal attorney Vivien Olsen, left, was a moderator for a session on the Indian Child Welfare Act, and was photographed with Ed Collazo, an attorney who also works for the PBPN Judicial Court and attended the symposium today.
