Rosetta M. Anderson Obituary

March 31, 2011 –

Emmett-Rosetta M. Anderson, 82, passed away Monday, March 28, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka.

She was born November 12, 1928 at Mayetta, the daughter of the late Joe and Edith A. Nocktonick Mattwaoushe. She grew up in the Mayetta community and had lived in Topeka until moving to Emmett in 1976.

Rosetta had worked in several different nursing homes and had worked in restaurants
and bars. She had owned and operated the Bedspread Bar and Grill in Emmett for many years. Rosetta was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation and also was a member of Post No. 400 American Legion Auxiliary in Topeka.

She was married to Eulojio M. Gomez, he preceded her in death in 1948. She married

John K. Poe, they were divorced. She later married William Anderson, he died in 1998. A son, Joseph M. Gomez died January 15, 2004.

Survivors include a grandson, Mike (Julie) Gomez, St. Marys; a granddaughter, Melissa Gomez (Chris Kittle), Topeka; great grandchildren, Amber Mae, Kory, Kason Gomez and Kylie Mae Kittle; two sisters, Melvina R. Guerrero and Ophelia J. Nicholson both of Topeka.

Mrs. Anderson will lie in state and the family will receive friends Thursday, March 31, 2011 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys. Cremation will follow the visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rosetta M. Anderson Memorial Fund and sent in care of the funeral home.
