Lorraine Marie Bessemer
February 18, 1930 – January 2, 2022
Lorraine Marie Bessemer, age 91, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 2, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Bessemer; parents Levi and Ellen Whitepigeon; and siblings Vivian, Levi, James, Norma, and Delores. She will be deeply missed by her children June (Ernie) Clemence, Kenneth (Debbie) Whitepigeon; grandchildren Yvonne (Scott) Nelson, Jason Clemence; five great-grandchildren; sisters Jenny Wicker, Ruth (Bob) Carlton, Marlene Wade, Yvonne Whitepigeon; and many extended family and friends.
Lorraine enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and going to the Allegan County Fair. She retired from General Motors after 30 years. One of her interests was listening and collecting Elvis memorabilia. She loved to host family dinners with Ray, and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed going for rides in her Jeep. Lorraine was an enrolled tribal member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.
Funeral Services were held 12 p.m. Thursday, January 6, 2022 at the funeral. Lorraine was laid to rest at Burnips Cemetery next to Ray. In memory of Lorraine and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Allegan County Food Pantry.
