LORENE DONNES “SNOOKS” WAHWEOTTEN
WAH BOX SI QUAH

Lorene Donnes “Snooks” Wahweotten, Wah Box Si Quah, 69, of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge.

She was born February 3, 1952, in Topeka, the daughter of Edna Keggmega.

She graduated from Topeka High School in 1970 and received a business degree from Clarks Business School.

Lorene was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation and part of the Drum Religion. She had worked for Regional Transportation in Colorado for fifteen years and later worked for the State of Colorado for ten years. She also worked for the State of Kansas for five years.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Orville Rice, Jr., Edward Wahweotten, Eli Wabnum, Irving Shopteese and Reuben Wabnum, and sisters, Theresa Wabnum, Inez Dodds, and Mary Brown.

Survivors include her adopted mom, Voncile Mitchell, Mayetta; five children, sons, Robert Roberts and Brian Roberts (Nicole), all of Aurora, CO, Norman Roberts (Tracey), Clara Roberts-Vielma (Javier), and Eliza Roberts (Justin Droge), all of Topeka; twelve grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, sisters, Maxine Begay and Cheryl Walker, both of Mayetta, brothers, Ronald Wahweotten (LaVeda), Mayetta and Larry Wahweotten, Augusta, nieces and nephews and cousins.

A wake and drum service will be Tuesday evening, March 9th at the Dance Ground, west of Mayetta. Burial will be Wednesday afternoon in the Matwe-Shobney Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at chapeloaksfuneralhome.com.
