John Anthony Navarro

John Anthony Navarro, 56, of Topeka, died January 13, 2010 at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Care Center.

He was born in Topeka, Kansas on July 28, 1953 the son of John and Leocadia (Serrano) Navarro.

John graduated from Highland Park High School. He worked for the Job Corps and most recently was employed by the Prairie Band Casino & Resort.

He was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation Tribe and Our lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

John is survived by his mother Leocadia of Topeka and was preceded in death by his father John on December 13, 1988. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles; Louis Serrano, Vincente Serrano and wife Carmen, Philip Serrano and wife Amelia, Peter Serrano and wife Bridget, and Margaret Cortez and husband Paul, numerous cousins and a good friend and caregiver, Tracey Kares.

John will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-8 p.m. where a Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. vigil service. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 18 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
