James L. “Pack-Chaa-bee” Jurey
November 10, 1965 – June 9, 2023
James L. “Pack-Chaa-bee” Jurey was born on November 10, 1965, in Topeka, Kansas to parents Lucy Jackson and Homer Jurey, maternal grandparents Lorraine Alexander and Robert Jackson, paternal grandparents were Angeline Jessepe and William Jurey who raised Jimmy. They proceeded him in death as well as his sister Lisa Jurey.
He was a proud member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation as well as the Choctaw Nation. He was in the Bear Clan and of the Tribal Drum religion. James passed away on June 9th, 2023, in Mayetta, Kansas. He attended Wichita High School and graduated from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas where he received his degree in social work. James worked at the Prairie Band casino and was a counselor for people with addictions.
James had a passion for New Age music, he loved video games and learning the latest computer technology. A visitation was held on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at Hoyt Chapel Oaks Cremation & Funeral Services.
A burial will be held at the Dance Ground cemetery at a future date.
