Geraldine L. Masqua
(October 28, 1925 – April 19, 2011)

Geraldine L. Masqua, 85, of Mayetta, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at her home in Mayetta, Kansas. She was born on October 28, 1925 in Horton, Kansas the daughter of Francis and Josephine Thomas Cadue Shopteese. Geraldine was a homemaker, member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Tribe, Drum Religion, was a good seamstress, singer and loved to cook. In 1947 she married Sylvester Masqua in Horton, Kansas. He preceded her in death on June 8, 1987. Survivors include four daughters, Lynia Eagle of Horton, Kansas, Lily Hall of Mayetta, Kansas, Deniece Masqua of Horton, Kansas and Gina Wahweotten of Mayetta, Kansas; two sons, Sylvester D. Masqua and Darrell R. Masqua both of Mayetta, Kansas; two brothers, Steve Cadue of Lawrence, Kansas and Thomas Cadue of Kansas City, Kansas; sister, Angie Cadue of Horton, Kansas and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Donald Masqua; three grandchildren, Ronald Allen Jr., Timothy Wahweotten and Christopher Masqua; four brothers, Vernon, Thurman, Virgil and Lorenzo Shopteese. Drum services will be at 5:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at the Kickapoo Community Building on the Kickapoo Reservation. Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday at the Kennekuk Indian Cemetery on the Kickapoo Reservation. A special message may be sent to the family at www.dishon-maple-chaney.com
