Donald G. Nocktonick

Donald G. Nocktonick, Shabbona, 63, Mayetta, died Jan. 6, 2008, at his home. He was born Aug. 7, 1944 at Holton, the son of John and Louise Masha Nocktonick. He graduated from MayettaHigh School in 1963 and attended WashburnUniversity. Mr. Nocktonick was a farmer and had worked for the Prairie Band Potawatomi tribal council in various positions. He was a member of the Prairie Band of Potawatomi Nation and the Drum Religion. He married Mary Kay Boeckman on Jan. 24, 1970, at Ottawa. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Tammy Martindale and husband Dean, Paxico; a brother, Norwood “Woody” Nocktonick and wife Lucy, Mayetta; and a niece, Joelee Charles and husband David, Topeka. He was preceded in death by a sister, Verna Nocktonick, on Aug. 25, 2006; and a nephew, Michael Nocktonick. Drum services will be held Jan. 11 at the Dance Ground west of Mayetta. Burial will be held Jan. 12 on the family’s property west of Mayetta. Mr. Nocktonick will lie in state from 9 a.m. Jan. 10 until 3 p.m. Jan. 11 at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hoyt, where a prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, followed by visitation.
