Brenda Gail Potts “Si ye mo quah” Obituary

MAYETTA- Brenda Gail Potts “Si ye mo quah”, 62, of Mayetta, KS passed away Saturday, August 2, 2014 at the Hospice House in Topeka. She was born July 10, 1952 in Topeka, KS the daughter of LaRue and JoAnn Bruhns Mzhickteno. She graduated from Highland Park High School in 1970.

Brenda worked for Jeff West Middle School as a Para Professional in Meriden where she lived for 20 years. She had lived in Mayetta since 1998. Brenda was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation and had worked for the tribe both for the Housing Authority and for the Nation Station.

She was married to Lewis Creek on May 21, 1971 in Topeka. They were later divorced. She married Jim Potts on October 2, 1999 in Mayetta. He survives of the home. She is also survived by her mother, JoAnn Mzhickteno of Topeka, KS; her son, Lewis Creek of Meriden, KS; her daughters, Jancy Romesburg (Daniel) of Topeka, KS, Karen Gardner of Meriden, KS and Lucy Jauregui-Perez of Albuquerque, NM; her brothers Vernon Mzhickteno of Topeka, KS, Larry Mzhickteno (Marguerite) of Mayetta, KS and Steve Mzhickteno (Vicky) of Topeka, KS; 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 7, 2014 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be in Matchie Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. To leave a special message for the family, visit www.mercerfuneralhomes.com
