April Tina McKinney Obituary

January 3, 2023–

April Tina McKinney
July 19, 1972 – December 10, 2022

April Tina McKinney, 50, of Topeka, passed away on December 10, 2022.

She was born on July 19, 1972 to Gerald McKinney Sr., and Marlys (Augilar) Bearstail in Kansas City, Missouri. After April graduated high school, she pursued different jobs before settling down and starting her family.

April enjoyed arts and crafts, painting, drawing, and making piñatas. She loved spending time with all of her grandchildren. She would spoil them to no end. April loved to be outside and walk, she couldn’t sit still for too long before she needed to get going again. Her grandchildren remember April taking them to hotels and going swimming, watching movies together, and just spending time together. She had a very giving heart, making food for people in need and helping them any way she could. She instilled so many morals and values in her children. She was an amazing mom that never gave up on her children. April would always throw the best birthday parties, and would always go “overboard” with every Christmas. Her family will miss her greatly.

April is survived by her loving children, Ariel McKinney, Frederick (Rose) Dillon, Corianne McKinney, and Koylen McKinney; sister, Sharol McKinney; nephew, Bryan McKinney; 17 grandchildren; and her adopted grandparents, Chief and Pam Pahmahmie.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents; and her brother, Gerald “Jube” McKinney, Jr.; and nephew, Waoquin McKinney.
