HOLTON- Adelaide “Shanot” Rhoades, 82, of Holton, KS formerly of Mayetta and Topeka, KS, passed away June 30, 2012 at Medicalodge Jackson County in Holton. She was born July 28, 1929 in Mayetta the daughter of John and Emma (Young) Wahbnum.
Adelaide was a Nurse’s Aide for Stormont Vail Hospital for over 30 years. She was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.
She married Edgar Rhoades on September 24, 1968 in Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on August 29, 1980. She was also preceded in death by all of her brothers and sisters.
Survivors include 2 sons, Ronald Lynch and Ralph Wabnum both of Mayetta, KS; a daughter, Marketa Thorpe of Tahlequah, OK; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Topeka. Memorials may be given to the Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church c/o Mercer Funeral Home P.O.
