Adelaide Delores (Dill) Aitkens Obituary

October 21, 2008 –

SAN DIEGO, CA: Adelaide Delores (Dill) Aitkens, 66, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2008 in San Diego, California.

Delores was born June 30, 1942 in Holton, KS. She was the daughter of Josephine (Jo) Keesis Aitkens and Laverne (Spud) Aitkens. Maternal grandparents were Susan (Moore) Keesis and Bernard Keesis. Delores was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation. She attended Holton High School before moving to Fairfield, California where she graduated from Armijo High School in 1960. Delores enjoyed returning to Holton and attending class reunions with her Holton High classmates and spending time with friends and family.

While in California Delores worked for AT&T in San Francisco and San Diego. She retired this year from AT&T after 46 years of service.

Delores enjoyed spending her free time with her sons and working on arts and crafts. She was an accomplished doll maker and also had an extensive Snoopy collection. As a long time season ticket holder for the San Diego Chargers, Delores was considered by her sons to be the Chargers biggest fan.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Leland Aitkens and Michael Dean Aitkens. Delores was a Beloved Daughter, Mother, Niece and Friend. Her smile, humor, wit and caring will be missed.

A Rosary will be said at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton on Monday, October 20, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church on the Potawatomi Common Land at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2008.
