Duane McCrary New PBPN Appellate Judge

Duane McCrary (holding paper) was sworn in today as the new Honorable Associate Justice for the Court of Appeals at the Judicial Center.  Members of the Tribal Council and his family stood with him as he took the oath of office.

Judge McCrary shaking hands with Chairman Steve Ortiz shortly after taking the oath.  McCrary is a tribal member and lives in Madison, Wisconsin and recently retired from being the Director of Labor Relations for the Madison Metropolitan School District.  To McCrary’s right is his wife, Marianne.

Judge McCrary spoke briefly after the ceremony and told the audience that he was excited about the opportunity to serve the Prairie Band people.  He is originally from Topeka and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University in 1969 and with a law degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1976.  His professional background also included working extensively for the state of Wisconsin in labor and employment law for many years.  McCrary is also a veteran of the U.S. Army.
