Amber Mahkuk Crowned We-Ta-Se Princess

MAYETTA: Amber Mahkuk, 17, was crowned the 2012 We-Ta-Se princess Saturday night during the evening session of the pow-wow.  She will participate in several We-Ta-Se functions and replaces Sylvana Levier-Jessepe.  Amber attends Kickapoo Nations Indian School in Powhattan, Kansas.

The pow-wow had over 100 dancers register with four drum groups that performed.  There were 46 veterans that signed in and approximately 500 people were served at the community supper that evening.  Ron Wahweotten and Sandra Bodah were honored veterans.

Winners of the raffles were: Pendleton blanket-Lisa Wamego; 50 gallons of gas-Mary LeClere; 100 gallons of gas-Cindy LeClere and $1,000 cash-Rosa Potts.
