Raymond “Nosh-me-guin” Wahweotten – Gaming Commissioner Candidate
My name is Raymond Wahweotten, I am running for position 2 in the Gaming Commission. I worked in the Gaming Industry in the very beginning of our Class III enterprise, I helped open the doors to the first casino on our Reservation. I worked in Hardcount and was to be the manager of both Hardcount and Softcount Teams. Before this opportunity, I was in construction as a painter, which I had several years in this occupation. I worked both capacities for over a year. Now, 35 years later, I have become a master craftsman and also led numerous teams to obtain top of the line quality craftmanship under tight deadlines. Now, I would like to devote my time with my Tribe to help secure our future for generations to come.
My parents are the late Ronald and Laveda Wahweotten. Both of my parents were exceptional workers. My Grandfather was Ray Wahweotten, and my Grandmother was Elsie Wahwassuck Wahweotten. My other grandfathers was Charlie Thomas and Lillian Shopteese Thomas.
Now, as for me, I believe you must know, my work values are strong. I work endlessly to get whatever task or job that needs to be completed in a timely manner. As being employed for so long, I don’t complain because I have to work. I am very competitive and have four state championships (1st place). I have numerous other 1st place achievements. I live my life in the same competitive manner with passion to be successful in my endeavors. Now, I have an interest in the Gaming Commission. I value the groundwork that previous Commissioners and Councils have laid out for our Sovereignty. I would like to be a part of our future growth to continue the success of our Nation.
With this new administration in Congress, Native Americans are losing their funding. Gaming is our biggest revenue generating income as a Sovereign Nation. We need voters to speak and vote for someone to represent our Nation and future. That person would be me because of my work ethic and ability to lead. I would very much appreciate your vote.
