George “Smokey” F. LaClair
August 26, 1937 – April 30, 2025

George Frank “Smokey” LaClair, 87, of Mayetta, KS, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at Holton Health Care Center. He was born August 26, 1937 in Mayetta, KS, the son of George James and Julia Gertrude (Eteeyan) LaClair.

Smokey was an auto mechanic for most of his life, working in Colorado and Kansas. He worked for JC Penny’s Auto and General Motors.

He was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.

He married Diane Murillo; she preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents, George and Julia LaClair and a brother, Floyd LaClair.

Survivors include his daughters, Brenda LaClair of Mayetta, KS and Jill Anderson (Fran) of Salina, KS; 4 grandchildren, Denae, Chris, Joey and Brandon and 7 great-grandchildren.

Private family services will be at a later date. Mercer Funeral Home in Holton is in charge of arrangements.
