Safe Kids PBPN plans to host Recreational Off-Highway Vehicles (ROV) driving courses, with this first class set for Saturday, September 18th and the second class on Saturday, September 25. Both classes will run from 9 a.m. until noon at the old Thunderhill Speedway, 11995 142nd Rd, Mayetta, KS.
The ROV Basic Driver Course is a hands-on class for licensed drivers aged 16 and older. The course is taught by a certified ROV Driver Coach who will help develop the basic skills to operate your ROV in an off-road environment and teach safe driving strategies.
Students will receive approximately three hours of driving time on a closed range and post-exercise discussions to expand on driving skills and strategies learned during the course.
Recreational Off-Highway Vehicles, sometimes referred to as side-by-sides, UTVs, or ROVs, all handle differently than other vehicles, such as ATVs, motorcycles, and cars. Learning to drive an ROV safely and responsibly is an important first step for drivers and their passengers.
Those attending the course, must bring their own side-by-side and safety equipment (helmet, goggles, gloves, boots, pants and long shirt).
To attend the course, participants must register at https://rohva.org/learn-to-drive/ with the online portion of the course and all waivers completed before attending this class. Registration and the online course will require participants to create a user account.
