Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation Partnership Meeting
Wednesday, January 30, 2019
10:00 am to 12:00 pm
PBPN Old Bingo Hall
(Red Morton Building south of the Government Center)
16281 Q Road, Mayetta, KS
You’re invited to participate in the first of two Partnership Meetings for the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation (PBPN) Soldier Creek Feasibility Study and Land and Water Management Plan! These meetings are an important component within our planning process. Your input will help us to identify ongoing and future partnership opportunities and ways to enhance management of Tribal land and water resources.
The PBPN considers water to be one of their most important natural and cultural resources. Protection of aquatic resources and their associated terrestrial resources has biological, cultural, and economic benefits due to the significance of the consumption of fish and wildlife. In addition to the goal of protecting and managing a healthy environment, the PBPN also has a goal of creating a healthy community through partnerships.
The purpose of the Feasibility Study is to identify, evaluate and recommend to decision-makers appropriate, coordinated, implementable solutions to the water resources problems and opportunities identified in portions of the Soldier Creek Watershed within Reservation boundaries. The purpose of the Land and Water Management Plan is to provide guidance to PBPN staff and leadership to make sound management decisions that will protect the quality and quantity of natural resources within these same watersheds, particularly in the face of climate change.
