These five Departments all fall under the oversight of newly created position, Director of Public Works, and an assistant Coordinator, who reports to the General Manager. The combination of the Five Divisions is a part of the restructure of the PBPN Government operations. This organization change was effective January 2, 2008. By oversight of one Director, more manpower and equipment can be directed to a common task using what is needed from a combination of specialties available. Prior to this the five departments worked independently within realm of duties, with somewhat limited coordination between Divisions activities.
This Department is located in the Lands Building along with Transit & Lands. The Transit Division is given the task of maintenance and upkeep of the Tribal vehicles and the repair bays are staffed and devoted to this. Farming operations are also coordinated and work out of this base of operations.
Within the Public Works Department there are 59 employees located at 6 sites to take care of the Reservation and its many infrastructure needs and those services pertaining to the Tribal Programs and to a healthy environment.
The deliverable of this Department is the coordination of activities, tight reins on Program budgets and successful operation of Tribal Divisions.
