Road Reconstruction, Snows Church Road

A one and a half mile project was added to the five year Road Plan to pave the road to Our Lady of the SnowsChurch from 158 road to the church. Design and acquiring right of way began in late 2006; utility relocation of phone, water and electric lines began in mid 2007. The PBPN Road and Bridge Department did the clearing and grubbing at the same time. A lot of the new fence on the new R/W was installed before winter set in. In early spring 2008 this job is expected to be put up for bid. Actual construction will begin after awarding of contract to a large contractor who can handle the grade, drain, large rocks at 2/10 mile north of 158 and surfacing. This is a 100% PBPN General Revenue Tribally funded Road Project.
This project will be completed by early fall of 2008. It will be a great improvement for the members of the Historic Our Lady of the SnowsChurch and many members of the Reservation community. It will provide an all weather asphalt road off of 158 at I road to the Church. A note to this narrative; the bridge over Crow Creek just west of 166 & I intersection was completed in 2002 by a PL-93-638 PBPN R&B Department Contract, it is officially BIA Bridge 212. The historic bridge it replaced was built in 1912 and has been relocated to the TribalPrairiePeoplesPark and is in use today.
