Diabetic Eye Exams
The Indian Health Services/Joslin Vision Network Teleopthamology Program was developed to provide access to diabetic eye exams for patients who aren’t able to make yearly visits to an optometrist. Teleopthamology is simple, non-invasive and does not require the use of dilating drops or any other preparation for the patient. It allows for the monitoring of eye health and diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy as early as possible. The system works by capturing and transferring images of the patient’s retina for review at the NationReadingCenter in Phoenix, Az.
