Mission

The Adult Social Services program is designed to promote personal responsibility, family unity, economic and social stability in an effort of promoting the wellness of each adult tribal member in the community.


Services

• Individual Indian Monies (IIM) account monitoring services. To receive IIM services a person must be referred by the Bureau of Indian Affairs.

• Guardianship/conservatorship services is offered to enrolled PBPN members when that person is incapable of self-care or of acting in his/her own best interest and is an order of the court. Guardianship/conservatorship is only used as a method of last resort and is considered after all other lesser restrictive alternatives have been explored. The objective is to restore the person to complete decision-making capacity and close the guardianship or conservatorship as expeditiously as possible.

• Representative Payee Services is offered to enrolled PBPN members or members enrolled in a federally recognized tribe on or near the Reservation who receive Social Security Income and who cannot manage his/her own money. Adult Services once appointed utilizes funds received to pay for current and foreseeable needs of the beneficiary, saves funds not needed to meet current needs and keep accurate records of how the beneficiary’s money was used.

• Tribal Payee Services is offered to enrolled PBPN members who cannot manage his/her own money and sign up willingly. Adult Services utilizes funds received to pay for current and foreseeable needs of the beneficiary, saves funds not needed to meet current needs and keep accurate records of how the beneficiary’s money was used.

• Adult Protective Services (APS) responds to reports of abuse, neglect or exploitation of enrolled PBPN or another federally recognized tribal adults on the Reservation . Intervention is available to adults age 18 and older who are unable to protect themselves. This includes individuals who have physical, emotional or mental impairments. These impairments may limit their ability to manage their homes or their personal or financial affairs. Intervention actions are taken to safeguard the safety, wellbeing and general welfare of adults in need of protection. APS provide protective services to these adults, with their consent.

• Information/referral services is offered as needed.
